“Tender Anger”, a concentrate of humanity at Suresnes Cités Danse Festival
Christian and François Ben Aïm’s play opens the festival, which features some 15 performances until February 9.
Tender Anger. The title of Christian and François Ben Aïm’s piece for ten dancers, which opens the Suresnes Cités Danse festival on January 10, makes you want to play pétanque with words, trying to get to the heart of the matter. How does tenderness caress anger? Is seeing red and thinking sweet really compatible?
On the stage of the Théâtre Jean-Vilar, in Suresnes (Hauts-de-Seine, France), these feelings at opposite ends of the spectrum strain a deeply welcoming show. In its ability to connect everyone’s imagination with generous dance, Tender Anger affirms Christian and François Ben Aïm’s humanist gesture. Carried by 10 young dancers with epidermal élans, the new opus by these choreographic brothers, accomplices since 1997, swings from one edge to the other to better reconcile extremes.
