Created in April at the Sainte-Chapelle for Monuments en mouvement of the Centre des monuments nationaux and the Festival Séquence Danse Paris of the Centquatre-Paris, Arise reveals a suspended and bewitching dimension, driven by the trio of dancers Louis Gillard, Christian and François Ben Aïm, accompanied live by the refined music and the singing of Piers Faccini.
Basically evolving, the piece enters into an intimate vibration with the places, sacred or atypical. Christian and François expose experiences and situations of presence, attempts to bring out the essence of who we are through a sober dance.
If the invitation to meditation is obvious, the piece tends to experience the opposite movement: that of openness which borders on the search for a transparency that Tommy Pascal has managed to magnify in a film. Thanks to the subtle eye of the director, inhabited by the expression of the body in movement, the relationship to music as a link between dance, heritage sites and in-situ routes is highlighted.
